The largest solar event of the period was a C3 event observed at
16/1527Z from Region 2909 (S21E58). There are currently 7 numbered
sunspot regions on the disk.

Solar activity is expected to be low with
a chance for M-class flares on day one (17 Dec) and likely to be low
with a slight chance for an M-class flare on days two and three (18 Dec,
19 Dec).

The geomagnetic
field has been at quiet to unsettled levels for the past 24 hours. Solar
wind speed reached a peak of 558 km/s at 16/1123Z. Total IMF reached 7
nT at 16/0932Z. The maximum southward component of Bz reached -5 nT at
16/0942Z. Electrons greater than 2 MeV at geosynchronous orbit reached
a peak level of 154 pfu.
