No solar flares were observed over the last 24 hours. Two small sunspots developed during the period, but were gone by about 09UT. NOAA 2526 remained quiet. Filament eruptions were observed on 1 April between 12-14UT (southwest limb) and 16-17UT (south of NOAA 2526), but no earth- directed coronal mass ejections (CMEs) were observed. The x-ray background flux has been below the B1 level since noon of 30 March.
Quiet conditions are expected to continue.
Solar wind speed initially decreased further from about 400 km/s to values near 330 km/s. Around 08UT, a gradual increase set in to speeds near 360 km/s by the end of the period, coinciding with a gradual increase in wind density. Bz varied between -3 and +4 nT. The interplanetary magnetic field was mostly directed away from the Sun. Geomagnetic conditions were quiet. A somewhat elongated negative coronal hole between latitudes +10 and +30 degrees has transited the central meridian and may start influencing the earth environment from 4 April onwards.
Mostly quiet to unsettled geomagnetic conditions are expected until the arrival later today or tomorrow (3 April) of a sector boundary and the co- rotating interaction region ahead of the wind stream from the small negative equatorial coronal hole. This may result in minor geomagnetic storming on 2 and 3 April, with a small chance on moderate storming.
