Solar X-ray flux remained below background (B) level. With no active regions on disc, solar flaring activity is expected to be very low.
The CME towards the North-West reported yesterday was further analysed as more LASCO C2 images came in. It is believed to be too far North-West to have impact on Earth. There are no other new Earth directed CMEs observed in coronagraph data.
The greater than 10 MeV proton flux was at nominal levels over the past 24 hours and is expected to remain so for the next 24 hours. The greater than 2 MeV electron flux remained below the 1000 pfu event threshold and is expected to remain below that threshold over the next 24 hours. The 24h electron fluence was at nominal levels. It may rise to moderate levels, related to the recent elevated Solar wind conditions although these are already subsiding and hence any such rise in electron fluence is expected to be fairly limited.
Solar wind showed a transition from high speed stream conditions towards background Solar wind conditions. Solar wind speed decreased from over 600 km/s to around 450 km/s by the end of the period. The interplanetary magnetic field was around 5nT with a general decreasing trend. The magnetic field phi angle switched into the positive sector (away from the Sun) again around 4UT. The return to background Solar wind conditions is expected to continue over the next 48 hours. There are no CME arrivals expected anymore at this point.
Geomagnetic conditions were quiet (both NOAA Kp and local K Dourbes 1-2). Quiet geomagnetic conditions are expected over the next days.
