Bulletin

The Sun was spotless. Solar activity was at very low levels and is expected to remain so.

The greater than 10 MeV proton flux and the greater than 2 MeV electron flux were at nominal values and are expected to remain so. From 21 April onwards, the electron flux could become more enhanced following the arrival of a coronal hole wind stream.

No earth-directed coronal mass ejections (CMEs) were observed in available coronagraphic imagery.

Solar wind speed was steady between 310 and 330 km/s (DSCOVR). Bz varied between -4 and +3 nT, being mostly at positive values. The direction of the interplanetary magnetic field (phi angle) was in a mostly sunward orientation (negative sector), except for a period between midnight and 07UT when it was in a positive orientation.

Geomagnetic activity was at quiet levels. Geomagnetic conditions are expected to be quiet to unsettled, with an active interval possible on 20 April in response to the expected wind stream associated with the extension of the negative polarity southern polar coronal hole.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 000, based on 24 stations.
