Bulletin

Solar flaring activity was at very low levels. No significant flares have been recorded. AR12767 (Hsx/alpha, S22E58) is crossing the solar disk. Solar activity is expected to remain at low levels.

No Earth directed Coronal Mass Ejections (CMEs) were observed in the available coronagraphic imagery.

The greater than 10 MeV proton flux was at background levels the past 24 hours. It is expected to remain so in the next 24 hours. The greater than 2 MeV electron flux was at background to moderate levels over the past 24 hours and is expected to remain so for the next 24 hours. The solar wind speed near Earth varied between 280 and 320km/s (DSCOVR). The polarity of the Interplanetary Magnetic Field (IMF) was predominantly oriented away the Sun (phi angle in the positive sector) with a variation to the negative sector on July 23rd 4-11UT. Bz fluctuated between -4 and +3 nT. The magnitude of the magnetic field varied between 2 and 6 nT. A southern negative Coronal Hole (CH) is crossing central meridian. For the next 24 hours the solar wind speed is expected to gradually enhance, as a possible response to the high speed stream from the CH that crossed central meridian on July 19th.

The geomagnetic conditions were quiet to unsettled. The values registered for the past 24 hours were 1-3 for K Dourbes and NOAA Kp=1. Quiet to unsettled, with a chance of an isolated active period (K Dourbes = 4), geomagnetic conditions are expected for the next 24 hours.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 010, based on 25 stations.
