Bulletin

Solar activity was at very low levels with no significant flares detected in the last 24 hours. An unnumbered active region which first emerged on the solar disk on April 10th is still visible in the north-west quadrant and has now formed more trailing spots. So far it has not been reported by NOAA and Catania, but appears to have a bi-polar Bxo Beta classification. The X-ray flare activity is expected to remain low for the next 24 hours with a slight chance for a C-class flare.

No Earth-directed coronal mass ejections (CMEs) were detected in the available coronagraph imagery.

The greater than 10 MeV proton flux was at nominal levels in the past 24 hours and is expected to remain so in the next 24 hours. The greater than 2MeV electron flux remained under the 1000 pfu threshold and is expected to remain so. The 24h electron fluence was at nominal levels and is expected to remain in the next 24 hours.

Over the past 24 hours all solar wind parameters (ACE and DSCOVR) were at low levels. The solar wind speed was in the range of 332 to 383 km/s. The total magnetic field varied between 0.6 and 6.9 nT with a weakly varying Bz component in the range of -5 to +5 nT. The interplanetary magnetic field (as measured by the phi angle) was predominantly in the negative sector, directed towards the Sun.

The geomagnetic conditions over the past 24 hours were globally quiet and mostly quiet locally with 4 hours of unsettled geomagnetic conditions registered between 20:00 and 00:00 UTC on April 11th to April 12th. Mostly quiet geomagnetic conditions are expected for the next 24 hours with remaining slight possibility for isolated unsettled periods.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 015, based on 19 stations.
