Bulletin

Solar flaring activity remained low with only few B-class flares reported during last 24 hours. We expect such a low level of flaring activity to persist in the coming hours. The CME, first observed at 06:36 UT this morning was associated with a large filament eruption (stretching from about 30 degrees North to 30 degrees South). The few available images indicate that the angular width of the associated CME was about 90 degrees and velocity was about 500 km/s. We will report more on this CME when data become available. Yesterday we have reported about the CME, associated with the eruption of a large filament (situated close to the extension of the northern polar coronal hole) observed around midnight of August 22. The newly available data show that the angular width of the CME was about 180 degrees and projected line of the sight speed was about 450 km/s. We expect arrival of this CME at Earth in the afternoon of August 26.

The greater than 10 MeV proton flux is still at background level and we expect it will remain so in the coming hours. The greater than 2 MeV electron flux is bellow the 1000 pfu threshold and the 24h electron fluence is at normal to low levels. We do not expect any significant change in the values of these two parameters.

Earth is still inside slow solar wind with velocity of about 300 km/s, and the interplanetary magnetic field magnitude also remained at the level of about 5 nT. The arrival of the solar wind originating from the extension of the northern polar coronal is expected at Earth this evening or tomorrow morning. The geomagnetic conditions are for several days at the quiet to unsettled level, and we expect they will stay so in the next 24 hours.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 019, based on 22 stations.
