Bulletin

Over the past 24 hours, solar flaring activity has been low, with the flare of the largest X-ray output the C1.8-class flare, peak time May 28 19:04UTC. There are seven regions on the disc, only 3 with sunspots and those have magnetic type alpha. For the next 24 hours, C-class flares are likely.

A radio emission was recorded on May 28 15:58 UTC. This seems to be associated with activity in NOAA AR 3021 about that time and a dimming, also detected by the SIDC/Solar Demon tool. No CME has been observed yet, but this event should be monitored. A partial Halo CME detected by Cactus on May 28 15:24UTC, with a projected speed of 529km/s, is believed to be a back-sided event.

The greater than 10 MeV proton flux was at nominal levels and is expected to remain so in the next 24 hours. The greater than 2MeV electron flux was below the 1000 pfu threshold over the past 24 hours. It can be expected to remain so in the next 24 hours. The 24h electron fluence was at normal levels and is expected to be at normal levels in the next 24 hours.

Over the past 24 hours, solar wind conditions reflect the continuing effects of the high speed stream. The magnetic field values fluctuated between 4 and 8nT, while Bz had values between -7 and 6nT. The solar wind speed was measured (DSCOVR) to be between 460 and 560 km/s. The interplanetary magnetic field phi angle was on the negative sector (towards the Sun). Over the next 24 hours, we are expecting those effects from high speed stream to continue.

Over the past 24 hours, geomagnetic conditions were quiet to unsettled (Kp=K Dourbes=3). Over the next 24 hours, mainly unsettled conditions are expected.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 036, based on 12 stations.
