Bulletin

The solar flaring activity was at low levels over the past 24 hours with only very few small C-class flares from several sunspots groups visible on the disc seen from Earth. We expect a very low flaring activity with a small chance of isolated C-class flares.

No Earth-directed Coronal Mass Ejections (CMEs) have been detected in the available coronagraph images over the past 24 hours.

The greater than 10 MeV proton flux was at nominal levels over the past 24 hours and is expected to remain so for the next 24 hours. The greater than 2 MeV electron flux was below 1000 pfu alert threshold and it is expected to remain so during the next 24 hours. The electron fluence was at normal to moderate levels and is expected to remain normal to moderated levels in the next 24 hours.

The solar wind parameters in Earth environment were showing a slow solar wind-speed regime: the wind speed ranged between 354 km/s and 462 km/s. The interplanetary magnetic field magnitude showed some higher values with an increase from 5 nT in the beginning of the periods to the current values aournd 13 nT. The Bz component of the interplanetary magnetic field fluctuated between -8.3 nT and 10.4 nT being predominately negative. The high-speed streams coming from the coronal holes (negative polarity) may influence the solar wind conditions and contribute to its enhancement in next days.

The geomagnetic conditions were mostly quiet to unsettle (NOAA Kp and local K-Belgium 1-3). An isolated period of active conditions (K-Belgium = 4) was observed from local stations in Belgium in responses to the prolonged negative values of the Bz component of the interplanetary magnetic field. The geomagnetic conditions are expected to be mostly quiet to unsettle with possible periods of active conditions in responses to the prolonged negative values of the Bz component.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 052, based on 19 stations.
