During last 24 hours 12 C-class flares were reported and majority of them originated from the Catania sunspot group 50 (NOAA AR 3272) which still has beta-gamma configuration of its photospheric magnetic field. The strongest reported flare was GOES C5.8 flare, peaked at 23:34 UT on April 07. This flare also originated from the Catania sunspot group 50 (NOAA AR 3272). In the coming hours we can expect the C-class flares, and possibly also isolated M-class flares.
During last 24 hours there were no potentially Earth-directed CMEs detected in the available coronagraph observations. The eruption of a rather large filament which started to lift up at about 01:50 UT this morning (positioned not far from the West solar limb and with a significant equatorial component) could be possibly associated with the wide CME. More will be reported when the coronagraph data become available.
The greater than 10 MeV proton flux remained, during last 24 hours, at the background level. The greater than 2 MeV electron flux continued to fluctuate around the 1000 pfu threshold. The 24h electron fluence was during last 48 hours at the normal level. We do not expect significant change in these three parameters in the coming 24 hours.
Earth is still inside the slow solar wind with velocity of about 370 km/s. The interplanetary magnetic field magnitude is presently around 4 nT. During last 24 hours the geomagnetic conditions were quiet to unsettled. We expect such a geomagnetic conditions to persist in the coming hours.
Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 056, based on 15 stations.
