Coronal mass ejection arrival

The M3.7 coronal mass ejection looks to have arrived at ACE already! A full 24 hours earlier than expected!

An explanation can be that the coronal hole solar wind stream cleared the space in front of the CME of ambient solar wind, causing very little deceleration.

At arrival, the solar wind speed jumped and is now close to 600km/s. The strength of the IMF is near 17nT with a southward directed Bz component of the IMF. A minor G1 geomagnetic storm watch is in effect for the coming hours.

Any mentioned solar flare in this article has a scaling factor applied by the Space Weather Prediction Center (SWPC), the reported solar flares are 42% smaller than for the science quality data. The scaling factor has been removed from our archived solar flare data to reflect the true physical units.
