Small coronal hole faces Earth

A minor coronal hole located on the Sun's southern hemisphere is facing Earth today.

The NOAA SWPC has issued a minor G1 geomagnetic storm watch for 17 April (next Monday) likely due to the anticipated arrival of the solar wind stream from this coronal hole.

Any mentioned solar flare in this article has a scaling factor applied by the Space Weather Prediction Center (SWPC), the reported solar flares are 42% smaller than for the science quality data. The scaling factor has been removed from our archived solar flare data to reflect the true physical units.
