Bulletin

Solar activity was eruptive the last 24 hours with 7 C flares mostly originating from AR NOAA 1748 (Catania 75) which has become more complex again since yesterday. AR NOAA 1750 (Catania 78) is decaying, but still has a possibility to produce M flares and due to its position, also a proton event. A CME was detected by LASCO C2 on May 20th around 13:00 UT with an angle of around 150 degrees and a speed around 340 km/s. It should reach Earth on May 24th around 19:00 UT, but should only have minor impact. It originated from AR 1748 with a C flare around 10:30 UT. Geomagnetic conditions where quiet to moderate and are expected to remain so for the next 48 hours.
