Bulletin

Solar activity was at very low levels. The 2 visible sunspot groups were quiet. No earth-directed coronal mass ejections (CMEs) were observed in available coronagraphic imagery. The greater than 10 MeV proton flux was at nominal levels.

Quiet flaring conditions are expected, with a small chance on a C-class flare.

Solar wind speed varied between 390 and 440 km/s (DSCOVR), ending the period near 410 km/s. Bz fluctuated between -6 and +5 nT. The interplanetary magnetic field was mostly directed away from the Sun, with "towards" excursions from 02UT onwards. A small negative equatorial coronal hole (CH) transited the central meridian on 01-03 October.

The geomagnetic field was at quiet to unsettled levels, and is expected to remain so. The particle stream associated with the aforementioned CH may start influencing the earth environment on 04 or 05 October, increasing the likelihood on an active geomagnetic episode.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 027, based on 16 stations.
