Bulletin

The solar activity has been quiet over the past 24 hours. The visible solar disc was spotless and the X-ray flux remained below B-class level. Quiet conditions are expected to continue over the next 24 hours.

No Earth directed Coronal Mass Ejections (CMEs) have been detected. The greater than 10MeV proton flux remained at background levels over the past 24 hours and is expected to remain so.

The solar wind speed has fluctuated between 340 and 420 km/s over the past 24 hours. The total magnetic field strength fluctuated between 1.6 and 9.3 nT, where the Bz component fluctuated between -6.4 and +8 nT. Slightly enhanced solar wind conditions are expected over the next 24 hours due to the influence of the extended southern polar coronal hole, which crossed the central meridian on the 10th February.

The geomagnetic conditions have been unsettled with an isolated active period (observed by Dourbes) over the past 24 hours, with the Kp (NOAA) and the local K (Dourbes) indices ranging between 1-3 and 1-4, respectively. Over the next 24 hours the geomagnetic conditions are expected to be quiet to unsettled, with the possibility for isolated active periods as the influence of the enhanced solar wind speed from the extended southern polar coronal hole is expected begin to influence the Earth on the 13th February.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 000, based on 14 stations.
