Bulletin

Solar activity was at very low levels. The Sun was spotless. No obvious earth-directed coronal mass ejections (CME) were observed during the period. The greater than 10 MeV proton flux was at nominal values.

Solar activity is expected to remain at very low levels.

Solar wind intensified at the beginning of the period, with solar wind speeds up to around 570 km/s (ACE). Wind speed values continued to range between 500 and 550 km/s, gradually decreasing until about 07UT when they started varying between mostly 470 and 510 km/s. Bz varied between -6 and +5 nT. The interplanetary magnetic field (phi angle) was predominately directed away from the Sun (positive sector).

Quiet to unsettled geomagnetic conditions were observed. Mostly quiet conditions are expected. Late on 10 or on 11 August, solar wind stream effects from an irregular shaped negative polarity coronal hole may result in unsettled geomagnetic conditions, with a small chance on an active episode.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 000, based on 20 stations.
