Bulletin

Solar X ray flux remained below B level throughout the period. There are no active regions on disk and X-ray flux is expected to remain at background levels.

A filament erupted from the North-Western quadrant around 5UT as seen in SDO AIA 304 images. Limited STEREO A COR 2 data seem to indicate an associated CME. We await more complete coronagraph data from Earth perspective to assess if it is possibly Earth-directed. Otherwise no Earth-directed CME's were detected in coronagraph images.

Solar high energy proton fluxes were at background levels and are expected to remain so.

Solar wind showed the ongoing passage of the expected high speed stream. Solar wind speed rose from 500 km/s to around 600 km/s by the end of the period. Total magnetic field showed peaks close to 13nT but was mostly in the 6-9nT range. Bz was overall variable but mostly negative throughout the morning reaching under -6nT for some time. The magnetic field phi angle was steady in the positive sector. Solar wind conditions are expected to remain elevated over the next 12 hours before starting a gradual decay over the following days.

Moderate geomagnetic storming was observed (NOAA Kp 6 for the 6-9UT episode) while local conditions remained at active levels only (local K Dourbes 4). Minor geomagnetic storming is expected to continue over the next 12 hours before starting to decay into unsettled to active levels. Further episodes of moderate storm levels are meanwhile still possible.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 000, based on 22 stations.
