Solar activity was at very low levels. The Sun was spotless. STEREO-A/EUVI images indicate a small active region developing just behind the east limb (as seen from Earth). No earth-directed coronal mass ejections (CMEs) have been observed in available coronagraphic imagery. The greater than 10 MeV proton flux was at nominal values.
Solar activity is expected to remain at very low levels.
Solar wind speed undulated between 470 and 370 km/s, showing a gradual decline and ending the period with values near 380 km/s (ACE). Bz varied between -3 and + 3 nT. The interplanetary magnetic field (phi angle) was mostly directed away from the Sun (positive sector). Kp and K Dourbes recorded quiet geomagnetic conditions, with a single unsettled episode by K Dourbes during the 21-24UT interval.
Geomagnetic activity is expected to remain mostly at quiet to unsettled levels. The earth environment is expected to become affected by the wind stream from a negative polarity coronal hole later today or tomorrow, increasing the possibility on an active episode.
Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 000, based on 10 stations.
