Bulletin

No active regions visible on the Sun. No flares observed, nor expected.

No Earth directed CMEs in the past 24 h. Solar protons have remained at background levels over the past 24 hours.

The solar wind speed is at 485 km/s with interplanetary magnetic field magnitude of 5 nT. Geomagnetic conditions reached K = 4 locally at Dourbes and Kp = 5 overnight, due to long periods of negative Bz (reaching -12 nT). This is due to the expected solar wind streams from small patchy negative polarity equatorial coronal holes, probably mixed with a slow ICME (possibly leaving the Sun on 12 February). More active periods can be expected in the coming 48 h due to these high speed streams (including the low latitudinal extension of the southern polar coronal hole).

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 000, based on 20 stations.
