Bulletin

Solar X-ray flux remained below B level throughout the period. A short-lived spotted region emerged and decayed within the past 24h in the South-Eastern quadrant. Another spotted region seems to be forming around S25E08. Overall chances for flaring at C level are very low.

No Earth directed Coronal Mass Ejections (CME's) have been observed in coronagraph data.

The greater than 10 MeV proton flux was at nominal levels in the past 24 hours, and is expected to remain so in the next 24 hours. The greater than 2 MeV electron flux is at enhanced levels reaching above the 10^3 pfu event threshold at its diurnal maximum. The electron flux is expected to show a slow decrease over the next days.

Solar wind conditions were near to nominal. Solar wind smoothly increased to a peak of over 400 km/s around midnight before decreasing again to currently values around 360 km/s. Total magnetic field decreased from over 10nT to nominal values below 5nT. Bz was variable with just a brief downward peak down to -8.7nT at the start of the period. The phi angle was mostly in the negative (towards the Sun) sector but moved into the positive (away from the Sun) sector since around 10UT. Solar wind conditions are expected to be nominal over the next days.

Geomagnetic conditions were mostly quiet (NOAA Kp 0-2) with locally only an isolated unsetted (K Dourbes 3) episode at the start and end of the period. Geomagnetic conditions are expected to be quiet in the next 48 hours.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 005, based on 12 stations.
