Bulletin

Solar flaring activity is low, and only one B-class flare was reported during last 24 hours. We expect such a low level of flaring activity to continue in the coming hours. Although low C-class flares are possible, they are not very probable. The B3.0 class flare (peaked at 23:53 UT on January 23) which originated from the Catania sunspot group 67 (NOAA AR 2798) was possibly associated with the Earth directed CME. More will be reported when the coronagraph observations become available. During last 24 hours proton flux levels remained at background values.

Earth is inside a slow solar wind with the speed of about 370 km/s, and the interplanetary magnetic field magnitude is 4 nT. The geomagnetic conditions are presently quiet and we expect them to stay so in the coming hours.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 024, based on 17 stations.
