Bulletin

Solar flaring activity was restricted to the B-class level. The source region was NOAA 2524 which has now rounded the west limb. Active region NOAA 2526 was quiet. A CME first seen in LASCO coronagraphic imagery around 16:00UT was associated with a backside filament eruption. No earth- directed CMEs have been observed.

There is a small chance on an isolated C-class flare.

Earth remained under the influence of the positive transequatorial coronal hole stream. Solar wind speed continued to increase from about 500 km/s to values around 580 km/s shortly after 04UT, and ending the period with values near 520 km/s. Bz initially oscillated between -6 and +7 nT, then between -3 and +4 nT after about 02:00UT. Geomagnetic conditions were quiet to unsettled.

Mostly quiet to unsettled geomagnetic conditions are expected, with an active episode possible.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 016, based on 17 stations.
