Bulletin

Beta region NOAA AR 2529 released two C flares in the past 24 hours. The brightest one was a C1.8 flare which peaked at 13:32 UT on April 14. More C flares (probability 65%) are expected in the next 24 hours, with a slight chance (probability 10%) for an M flare, especially from AR 2529. Over the past 24 hours, solar wind speed decreased from about 450 to 360 km/s and increased again to about 380 km/s. The magnitude of the Interplanetary Magnetic Field (IMF) decreased from 9 to 5 nT and increased again to about 8 nT. Over the past 24 hours, geomagnetic conditions have been quiet to minor storm (K Dourbes between 1 and 5; NOAA Kp between 1 and 4). K Dourbes values of 5 were registered on 17h and 18h UT on April 14, as a result of elevated solar wind and IMF values in combination with a predominantly southward direction of Bz. Quiet to unsettled geomagnetic levels (K Dourbes < 4) are expected on April 15, 16 and 17.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 051, based on 18 stations.
