Solar activity was at very low levels. NOAA 2738 produced 3 B1 flares between 18 and 22 UT. A fragmented 25-degrees long north-south oriented filament is currently located at E25 and between +5 and +30 degrees. No coronal mass ejections were observed over the last 24 hours. The greater than 10 MeV proton flux was at nominal values. A weak extension from the positive polarity northern polar coronal hole (CH) is near the central meridian.
Solar activity is expected to remain at very low levels.
Solar wind parameters were at nominal levels until about 21UT, when the solar wind became slightly enhanced. Wind speed started a very gradual increase from 310 to about 360 km/s by 08UT, ending the period near 350 km/s. Bz varied initially between -3 and 0 nT, then between -6 and +4 nT after 03UT. The direction of the interplanetary magnetic field (phi angle) was mostly directed towards the Sun, becoming more variable after midnight. Quiet to unsettled geomagnetic conditions were observed.
Quiet to unsettled geomagnetic conditions are expected to continue.
Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 012, based on 23 stations.
