Bulletin

Solar activity is low with no C-class flares reported during last 24 hours. All four active regions, presently observed on the visible side of the solar disc have simple configuration of their photospheric magnetic field (two have beta and two alpha configuration). We expect flaring on the B-class level with possible isolated C-class flares. A CME with angular width of about 100 degrees (speed 400 km/s) erupted off the north-east solar limb at 17:48 UT on August 13 (first seen by LASCO-C2), this is a backsided event that will not affect Earth. The solar wind speed is at 400 km/s, with interplanetary magnetic field of 4 nT. The fast solar wind associated with a low latitude coronal hole might arrive at the Earth within 24 h causing active geomagnetic conditions. Otherwise, quiet geomagnetic conditions can be expected.

Today's estimated international sunspot number (ISN): 058, based on 23 stations.
